Boston Marathon 2014: A Personal Encounter

The day I heard about the Boston Marathon, my heart began to sink. From that moment on, I knew our country was going to be a different place. The Boston Marathon has always been an event where people can come together for one purpose, and one purpose only: to cheer on runners as they run 26.2 miles around the city of Boston.
My dad is an active runner, and normally runs the Boston Marathon each year, but he did not qualify for the marathon last year. Although he did not qualify for the marathon last year, it ended up being a blessing. This year, my dad made sure he could be a part of this event, especially after the tragedy that happened last year, and I was lucky enough to experience it with him. I knew this was going to be an event to remember.
Right when the plane itself landed, the atmosphere was truly incredible. Not only was everyone excited to be there, but everyone was supporting each other. From the beginning, everyone wanted to run for the city of Boston. They wanted to give back, and show how much they loved the people of Boston, and how much they loved the city. From the beginning of the marathon, I did not hear one silent person, everyone was cheering each other on even if they did not know each other. I truly feel blessed to have been a part of such an incredible event especially after the tragedy that happened last year. Hopefully, I will get to be a part of it next year.
