Band, Strings, and Choir Present a Semester’s Work

The Upper School Choir and Band Winter concert celebrated the upcoming Winter Break on December 6.  Many vocal ensembles from the Middle School and the Upper School performed during the concert, including the Advanced Treble Choir, Cavalier Blues, 5th and 6th Grade Choir, Groovy Boys Ensemble, 7th and 8th Grade Choir, and the Concert Choir.

The Advanced Treble Choir began the celebration by singing the Star Spangled Banner, then Cavalier Blues lightened the mood with “A Glee-ful Christmas” featuring solos by Isaiah Hogue and Cates McLean.  The 5th and 6th Grade Choir performed a number of Christmas songs, then the Groovy Boys Ensemble inserted some pop into the mix with a performed of “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s.

The closing group for the vocal performances was the Concert Choir, which performed three songs.  Their final song was “Believe” from the Polar Express.  This song featured a solo by senior Harrison Johnson for his last winter concert.

After a quick word from the President of the Arts Guild, Susan Mack, the instrumental part of the concert began.  The 3rd and 4th Grade Orchestra and Band performed at the start of this portion of the concert.  Then, the Middle School and Upper School Band and Orchestra had an arragnement of “Angels We Have Heard on High.”  The Upper School Band performed the song, “In the Moode” featuring vocals by Mrs. Tina Batchelder-Schwab, piano by Mrs. Molly Aiken, bass by Mr. David Sims, and Guitar by Senior David Moore.  This was a great collaboration of the multiple musical groups, and helped the audience get ready for the Christmas Break.
