This year, Christ Church took 18 prosperous students to the nation’s capital for the 16th annual WAMUNC (Washington Area Model United Nations Conference). Model UN is a conference in which students take on global challenges. Christ Church kids promptly boarded a bus at 7:00 am Thursday morning and set off on their journey. Mr. Burford and Ms. Bouldin generously chaperoned the 4 day trip. After the long 8 hour bus ride, CCES finally reached the conference. The students quickly got to work supporting their respective countries.

The following morning Christ Church bundled up, grabbed some Starbucks, and toured the grounds of DC. The high schoolers walked through the national mall, making sure to stop and take plenty of pictures. The students also visited the American National History Museum, where those who had yet to study for Mr. Woodward’s 30 chapter test were able to get a cram session in. The very patriotic kids stopped by the first American flag and sang the national anthem proudly. Halfway through the song, the whole room had joined in.

After the fun-filled morning, the students quickly got back to work. In addition to working hard and sleepless nights, the students got the chance to bond with other kids from all over the world. Freshman, Diana Oxner, said that, “Model UN was probably one of the coolest trips I have ever been on. I made some new friends from all over the world. I had a ton of fun and can’t wait to go back.”
