The Masters 2024: Scottie Schefflers Next Step on the Road for Golfing Greatness

The Masters 2024: Scottie Scheffler’s Next Step on the Road for Golfing Greatness

The 90th edition of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National took place over the last week, providing golf fans with a perfect opportunity to shake off work and enjoy the gentleman’s game. High on everyone’s list to win the weekend was Scottie Scheffler, the official Golf World Ranking’s undisputed No. 1 since 2022. Scheffler, who won the world’s most famous golf tournament in 2022, was set to make another run at competing for glory during this year’s tournament.

Going into this year’s round at Augusta National, Scottie was going in as much more of a seasoned veteran than his last trip around Amen Corner. Expecting his first child in the coming weeks and sporting a beard around the golf course, many in the golfing community have noted the young golfer’s stability in the face of pressure and expectation. Sheffler has often been compared to Tiger Woods, a heavy load for anyone to shoulder. However, there has seemingly been no effect on the man’s ability to golf. Over the entirety of this PGA Tour season, the Texan has not played a single round over Par and has won 3 tournaments this calendar year.

It was not until Sunday that we saw the true greatness of Scheffler’s approach. He was consistent in his drives, brilliant with his iron play, and invincible with his putter. After mistakes made by Victor Aberg and Max Homa, Scheffler was able to pull away and create a 4-shot lead. By the time the Texan was back in the clubhouse, it was hard to deny that his dominance is here to stay in the sport of golf.
