Christ Church Sophomore Miranda Renzi entered an Earth Day poster contest and won. The city of Greenville established the poster contest for students of all ages. The theme of the contest was Green Footprints.

The contest had certain criteria for each entry. For high school students, the poster could be computer generated, the style that Renzi used in her winning artwork. The panel of judges was impressed in her recreation of Main Street with custom made buildings. These buildings include the Peace Center, The Marriott Hotel, The City of Commerce building, First Citizens Bank, and The One Building.

When asked about her experience, Miranda said, “I was completely and wonderfully surprised when I found out my poster had won the contest. I’m relatively new to the world of design, but my teacher, Mr. Riley, encourages us to put our designs out there anyway. I can’t thank him enough for his help. I’m honored to have won and so grateful to the city of Greenville for appreciating my design.”

Miranda’s poster was put on display at Greenville’s Zoo Party for the Planet on Saturday, April 18th from 9 am- 2 pm. Posters from other students were also framed and placed in various parking garages around the city of Greenville.
The newspaper staff congratulates Miranda Renzi on her success in the Earth Day contest.
