Christ Church teachers tend to stay at CCES for a long time. So, get used to seeing these new faces because, chances are, they will be at CCES for a while. The journalism staff sat down with a few of our newest faculty members including college counselors Bartley Sides and Lindsey Waters, librarian John Byrnes, and science teacher Nichole Daniels.

Mr. Bartley Sides is a new college counselor. He is from Cheraw, SC, attended Furman University, and received his masters from Wake Forest University. Mr. Sides was previously senior assistant director of admissions at Furman University. He loves all candy, but his favorite is the classic, Reese’s. Mr. Sides enjoys dining at his favorite restaurant in Greenville, Trattoria Giorgio, across from the Westin Poinsett Hotel. If Mr. Sides could compete in the Olympics for any event, he hopes it would be bobsledding. Mr. Sides is most looking forward to seeing his students admitted into the college of their dreams during his time at Christ Church.

Mrs. Waters is the other newest addition to the college counseling team. Originally from Florida, Mrs. Waters attended Furman University and received her masters from Clemson University. She formerly worked alongside Mr. Sides in the admissions office at Furman. Her husband graduated from Christ Church in the class of 2004. Tako Sushi is definitely her favorite restaurant in Greenville. If she were in the Olympics, Mrs. Waters would want to run the marathon. Her absolute favorite candy is chocolate covered almonds which she loves to mix in with her popcorn at the movies. Mrs. Waters is excited to get to know as many students as possible while working at Christ Church!

Mrs. Daniels, teaching biology, is among the new addition of teachers. If she could participate in the Olympics for any sport, it would undoubtedly be gymnastics. She is originally from Spartanburg and her favorite restaurant in Greenville is Wild Wing Cafe. Mrs. Daniels attended the University of South Carolina Upstate and taught at Southside High School. She most looks forward to getting to know her students better here at CCES in smaller class sizes.

Another new face on campus is Mr. Byrnes, the librarian. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College. A previous high school librarian and english teacher, Mr. Byrnes looks forward to helping students achieve a higher level of research. An interesting fact about Mr. Byrnes, other than the fact that he loves books, is that he was a National Park Ranger giving boat tours between the Twin Cities. If he were a member of the U.S. Olympic team, he would use his experience in curling to win the gold medal. Being from Minnesota, his favorite sports team is the St. Paul Saints, a minor league baseball team.

Mr. Sides, Mrs. Waters, Mrs. Daniels, and Mr. Byrnes are all fresh faces to this welcoming community. We hope to continue to welcome them, and other new faculty, students, and staff for the coming months. Soon these new faces will be as familiar as the ones that have been here for years.
