Convocation
The entire Christ Church community gathered in McCall Field House for the annual Convocation service Monday. The ceremony had speakers from every division of the school. Board of Trustees Chair Eva-Marie Fox ‘83 began convocation with an interesting countdown on how to have a successful school year. After Mrs. Fox’s speech, two enthusiastic first graders lead the student body in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our headmaster Dr. Leonard Kupersmith talked about the many physical changes to the campus, including the trophy corridor outside McCall Field House. Dr. Kupersmith mentioned that this year we have already started with a few records, such as the largest student body in school history, which is a sign to how prosperous our school has become. Dr. Kupersmith challenged every student “…to focus on developing grit.”
Once Dr. Kupersmith finished his speech, the middle school president lead the entire student body in prayer. Then the time we had all been waiting for, the Student Body President Ellie Williams addressed the crowd. Ellie who was been president of her grade of or the student body every year since 7th grade, delivered a speech that expressed her appreciation for me wonderful experience she’s had over the past 13 years at CCES. Her thoughts on her speech were “…words can not do justice to my whole experience at Christ Church, I hope my speech could show people a little bit amazing place that CCES is, what this community has meant to me, and how it has shaped my life.”
