The CCES Boys and Girls Varsity basketball teams have been off to exciting starts. The boys team has already matched the amount of games they won last season.

The season started in early November and many competitive games have been played since. The Varsity Girls team is coached by JaNet Vicks, and the Varsity Boys team is coached by John Butler. The two teams both have had successful seasons thus far, the girls record for the 2017-2018 season has been an impressive record of 10-2. The boys varsity team has had a record of 7-5 during their 2017-2018 season. The two teams played on January 5th, the team they played against was against Blue Ridge High School. The game was played at McCall Fieldhouse. The Varsity girls and boys both dominated their games and added another win to their records. The girls won with a score of 57-47; the boys won their game with a score of 58-42.

The girls team is led by senior Marion Geary, Paula Peiper and senior Lawren Cook, who signed to play basketball at Wofford College. The boys team is led by multiple seniors including Roscoe Cox, Cliff Gandis, David Garrett, Graham Haley, and Will Turrentine. The boys and girls varsity basketball team have 9 games in the regular season until their playoffs begin. The playoffs for the girls team begins on February 13th and following the first round of the girls playoff games, begins the boys playoff games on February 14th.
