CCES Golf Tournament
The golfers from Christ Church recently became the best in both South Carolina and Georgia when they travelled to Alpharetta to compete in the Georgia/South Carolina cup. This esteemed tournament consists of the top high schools golf teams from across each of these states and is very prestigious.
Golf is considered a sport that is often overlooked. Not many people go out of their way to watch a golf game. As a result, golf is the 7th most popular sport in America (behind tennis and above wrestling), and the tenth most popular sport in the world (behind rugby).
Former golfer Arnold Palmer once said, “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated.” Nobody knows this more than golfers themselves, and Christ Church Episcopal School has it’s fair share of them.
To win a tournament, many things have to go right. Varsity golf player Harry Reynolds said, “Our players being very relaxed helped us win… there were no worries.” Every player came through in a team effort to win.
When asked about the biggest challenges they face, Reynolds said, “We had never seen the golf course before.” Golf is as much of a mental game as it is a physical game, and knowing the course you play on is a huge advantage.
Overall, each player contributed to the victory and helped CCES become the best throughout South Carolina and Georgia.
