Lady Cavs Golf Team Update
The Christ Church girls golf team has started well this season. Their first match was on September 10 at the Pickens Country Club. At this match, they finished first against Liberty and Tamassee-Salem. In their next match on the 16 in Anderson against Pendleton and Seneca, the girls finished second. So far, they have started out with a record of 3-1 through just two matches.
The girls are led by first year head coach Richard Cox. Coach Cox has put in new strategies that have been the Lady Cavs’ key to success through their first two matches. The girls are also led by star player Peyton Gillespie. Gillespie is only in seventh grade, but she has been a medalist in both matches so far and is ranked nationally as one of the top female golfers for her age.
The girls next game will be on September 26th at home. After that, they will play at Rolling Greens against Pickens and Wren and then followed by the regional championship at Willow Creek. The girls final match this year will be at home against Powdersville on October 8th after the regional championship. Hopefully the girls will be able to carry the momentum they have started now at the beginning of the season all the way to the regional championships.
