Boys Varsity Golf

The boys varsity golf team has had an unbelievable season full of record setting rounds. The team played other high schools from all over South Carolina at various courses. They practice regularly at Chanticleer, which is considered one of the toughest courses in South Carolina.

The team recently competed at Tournament of Champions located at Daniel Island. The Cavs won three out of five matches in the first round to defeat Easley High School and went on to defeat AC Flora by winning four out of five matches. Returning to their home course of Chanticleer, the Cavs then defeated Bishop England by winning three of the five matches.

Several records were set at Chanticleer. The Cavs set a school record by shooting 145 as a team. Also, junior Jackson Weede was the first player from Christ Church to win individual honors at county. This is also the first time Christ Church has won county as a team.

The team went on to win the Class A State Championship Tournament held at Greenwood Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. Sophomore Stephen Reynolds won the individual tournament.

Reynolds attributes the success of their season to “a great team and a great coach” and to the fact that they “tend to hit the ball better than the other teams.” Congrats on a great season!
