Boys Varsity Tennis

The boys varsity tennis team has finished the regular season with a 10-5 record. Losses were to large, non-region schools like Dorman and Charlotte Country Day. After recently defeating their rival of St. Joseph’s 4-3, the team was able to secure first in the region for the upcoming playoffs.

According to sophomore Hayes Sherman, this season has been a bit of an adjustment due to losing several starters from the previous year. However, everyone stepped up and played well throughout the season. The boys are now preparing for playoffs which begin May 7th. They should return to state, which will take place on May 17th in Columbia.

The tennis players work hard and divide their time between school matches and personal practices. Sherman described their hard work ethic and stated, “The thing about tennis is you are content when you win, but when you lose you just hate yourself.” Good luck to our Cavs as they enter the playoffs!
